Swell Week has no accounts and collects no personal information. This page says exactly what stays on your device, what leaves it, and why.
Last updated 6 November 2026. Covers the iPhone and iPad app and the web forecast on this site.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. The web forecast keeps the same settings in your browser's local storage.
When the app refreshes, it asks Open-Meteo for the week's swell, wind, weather and tide at each of the hundred spots. Those requests carry the spot's coordinates, never yours. The app does not ask for or use your location. Open-Meteo sees your IP address the way any website does; its terms apply to that.
Spot photos load from Wikimedia Commons, which sees your IP address the way any website does. Each photo is credited on its spot.
Find stays opens Booking.com and Find flights opens Skyscanner. On iPhone and iPad they open in an in-app Safari view; on the web, in a new tab. From there the partner's own privacy policy applies.
The link carries the place, the dates, the guest count, the airports, our affiliate id and a short tag made of the screen, the destination and the campaign, for example spot_hnl_book. It never carries your name, email, device identifier or anything else about you.
We may earn a commission when you book through our partners. It does not change the price you pay.
Each tap on a booking button is recorded: the time, the partner, the tag, the screen, the destination, the check-in and check-out dates, the platform and the app version. It stays on your device. When our click endpoint is switched on, the same record is also sent to our server so we can match commissions reported by the partners to the app.
In the app these live only on your device today; nothing is uploaded. Opened on claude.ai, the web forecast keeps trips and surfmates in that page's shared database under the claude.ai account you are signed in with, so that your surfmates can see where you are going. Booking taps there are logged the same way as in the app.
No advertising identifiers. No analytics or advertising code. No third-party software inside the app. No tracking across other apps or websites. We do not sell or share data, because there is none to sell.
Swell Week is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them. It collects nothing from anyone.
If any of this changes, this page changes first and the date at the top moves.
